PSAT/NMSQT
The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test

The PSAT/NMSQT, a short form of the SAT, measures verbal and mathematical reasoning abilities.

It serves four purposes:

  • Allows students to compare their academic abilities with other college-bound students at their specific grade level.

  • Familiarizes students with the SAT.

  • Shows the student areas on which he/she may need to concentrate additional preparation before taking the SAT.

  • Allows college-bound juniors to compete for National Merit Scholarships

PSAT/NMSQT is only offered once a year in October.

New this year: the PSAT/NMSQT is only offered digitally 

Exam begins at 8:20 a.m. sharp - late students will not be allowed to enter exam room

There is no make up date

 

  • Oct. 11, 2023 (Juniors) - elective test & students must register & pay exam fee if interested by 3:00 8/31

  • Oct. 12, 2023 (Sophomores) -  all are registered and do not pay the exam fee

    • ​Student grade level is determined by Skyward

  • ​​​Scores available online November​

 All updates regarding this exam will be sent via email.

Registration for MHS 11th graders only -- Exam Fee $14.00

(this includes a payment processing fee)

Payment due by 3:00 pm 08/31/23

Any registration with an outstanding balance will be canceled after 3:01 pm 8/31/23

Things To Do & Know Before Test Day

  • Students need to create a College Board account if they do not have one - click here

  • Students need to download the Bluebook app to their school issued iPad

  • Watch the "What to Expect with the Digital PSAT/NMSQT" video

  • Check posters in main hallways to find room assignment (before test day).

  • Testing is during 1st & 2nd periods (8:20 - Noon)

  • Bring fully charged iPad

  • Desmos graphing calculator is built into the online testing system

  • Students are allowed to use approved calculators - see list here

  • Students will have access to scratch paper if needed

  • Cell phones are to be turned off and put in a backpack or purse during the testing session.

  • Students must have testing accommodations approved through College Board - see below

PSAT/NMSQT Scores

Students must have their confidential PSAT/NMSQT Access Code to access scores online.  

If the student provided a valid email address, then an email will come from College Board PSAT/NMSQT with the Access Code.  Students can also find their access code in Skyward under Educational Milestones.

Creating An Account With College Board

Follow this link to create your College Board account - you will use this same account to access scores for all exams (PSAT/NMSQT, AP, SAT) and register for SAT exams.  

If you already have an account - you will still need the Access Code to access score reports. Sign-in Page

* INCORRECT INFORMATION ON THE ANSWER DOCUMENT: If a student bubbled incorrect demographic information on their answer document; Name, Date of Birth, School ID, etc...  They may have a problem accessing their online score report.  PLEASE CALL 1-866-433-7728 to correct any errors.  School personnel cannot fix errors created on College Board exams.*
